Junior Fire Chiefs Poster Contest Highlights Fourth of July Safety

Each summer as our nation approaches the Fourth of July celebration, the Los Angeles County Fire Department sponsors its popular "Junior Fire Chief for a Day Poster Contest" to encourage all residents to stay safe by visiting a professional fireworks show.

Contest organizers in the Department's Public Information Office invite all elementary schools in Los Angeles County, grades one through six, to participate by creating an original poster based on the theme "Visit Your Local Professional Fireworks Show." The posters arrive at Fire Department headquarters and votes are cast by grade level for the best representation of the theme. The contest is a fun way to spread the message of fireworks safety and to help reduce the number of fireworks-related injuries.
