The Building Plan Check Unit maintains six offices to provide plan check services. These offices are geographically located to serve the resident and business communities of the County. Services are provided to approximately three million people. Their function is to check all proposed structures for California Code of Regulations Titles 19 and 24, as well as local fire and building code requirements. The Building Plan Check Unit performs non-structural, fire/safety plan review and approval of architectural plans for various complex occupancies such as large public assemblies, hazardous materials use/storage, high-rise buildings, large commercial/industrial developments, schools, large beachfront and hillside residential developments.
