Volunteer Opportunities

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department currently has three opportunities for the public to get involved in public safety.

CALL FIREFIGHTER

The Department currently employs about 100 Volunteer Firefighters or Call Firefighters, who staff nine engine companies assigned to four battalions in three separate field divisions. Call Firefighters operate as first responders and are under the supervision and direction of Fire Captains at the nearest fully staffed Fire Station.

If you are interested in becoming a Call Firefighter, call the program coordinator at (661) 726-2802. or e-mail us at callcapt@lacofd.org

COMMUNITY EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program helps to educate the citizens in our communities about disaster preparedness. This program helps to train the general public in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

For more information please click on the CERT link above to find out how you and your family can be better prepared in an emergency.

VOLUNTEER PHOTOGRAPHER

The Volunteer Photographer Program is no longer accepting new application. Check the web site frequently for updated information and thank you very much for your interest.
