Los Angeles County firefighters are once again getting into the holiday spirit as they team up with ABC7 for the 23rd annual Spark of Love Toy Drive, which begins Monday, Nov. 9, and runs through Dec. 24.
Since its inception, Spark of Love has collected more than 9 million toys for underserved children and teens across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Ventura and San Bernardino counties.
ABC7 and Southern California firefighters will host the first Stuff-A-Bus event Nov. 20 from 4:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. with ABC7 traffic reporter Alysha Del Valle and meteorologist Bri Winkler at the Los Cerritos Center in Cerritos. Everyone is invited to bring new, unwrapped toys or sports equipment for children and teens so we can stuff a bus full of holiday cheer.
Need an idea for a donation? The drive always collects lots of toys for young children, but volunteers are always looking for more gifts for teens. Here are a few suggestions:
- MP3 players
- Cellphone cases
- Razor scooters
- Basketballs, soccer balls, and Footballs
- Cross-body bags
- Make-up brushes
- Blow dryers and other hair appliances
Here are just a few suggestions for younger children:
- Coloring books
- Stuffed animals
- Board games
- Nerf balls
- Remote-controlled cars
Bring toys and sports equipment to a Stuff-A-Bus event or drop them off at your local fire station. All Los Angeles County Fire Department stations are accepting donations.
