The Lifeguard Division has a fleet of 14 Rescue Watercrafts (RWC) that are strategically placed along the 72 miles of L.A. County Coastline. The RWC’s are operated by a group of Certified RWC Operators made up of Ocean Lifeguard Specialists and Captains. They can be deployed from any beach using a sand trailer deployment system that was made custom for launching into the ocean from shoreline. Their ability to get in and out of the surfline and rescue a victim quickly makes them the perfect tool for many rescue situations that our lifeguards deal with every day. The Rescue Watercraft is arguably the most effective rescue tool during large and hazardous surf conditions.
