The Los Angeles County Fire Department maintains two (2) Urban Search and Rescue Task Force fire stations, Fire Station 103 in Pico Rivera, and Fire Station 134 in Lancaster. Each of these fire stations is staffed by six (6) USAR Technicians, who are assigned to either a USAR Squad Company or a USAR Engine Company.
The USAR Squad Company and USAR Engine Company combine to form a USAR Task Force when responding to technical rescues, collapsed structures, trench rescues, confined space rescues, swiftwater rescues, major vehicle accidents with entrapment, and structure fires. In addition, each USAR Squad or USAR Engine will respond as a single company to medical rescues, public assist calls, and other single resource incidents.
