Saturday, May 20, 2017, was a day set apart to honor the lives of Los Angeles County Fire Fighter Specialist (FFS) Hector Magallanes and Fire Fighter (FF) Gino “Rick” Zeni at Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) headquarters.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department hosted its 48th annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Ceremony at the Eugene W. Biscailuz Regional Center Training Academy on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.
The Lancaster JetHawks baseball team showed its gratitude to Antelope Valley first responders by hosting an appreciation night at their stadium on Monday, May 15, 2017. A local business owner bought 5,000 tickets and generously donated them to first responders and their families.
At its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaimed the month of September as “Los Angeles County Heart and Stroke Walk Month”.
Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby and the Executive Team hosted a promotional ceremony on Wednesday, May 17, to congratulate 25 employees who have been promoted to the next stage in their careers.
Across the County, all Los Angeles County Fire Department stations rolled up their doors to host “Fire Service Day” for the public on Saturday, May 13. However, each region hosted its own Fire Service Day events for three consecutive Saturdays in May which kicked off on May 6.
At its regular meeting on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors presented its “Outstanding Nurse of the Year” awards; issued a proclamation; and approved a contract with Motorola Solutions, Inc.
Paula Park was honored as the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) “Nurse of the Year” during a presentation at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday, May 16. The presentation honored nurses from all County departments as part of “Nurse Recognition Week”.
