Forty candidates graduated from the 2017 Ocean Lifeguard Training Academy on Saturday, June 17 at Dockweiler Youth Center in Playa Del Rey. Ten of the 40 new lifeguards are women.

Los Angeles County Fire Department Fire Captain John Muro was honored on Tuesday, June 6, as the 2017 Temple City Firefighter of the Year. Muro was presented with a plaque during an awards presentation given by Temple City Mayor Pro Tem William Man at the City Council meeting.
