LACoFD Firefighters’ Memorial Service Will Honor FFS Magallanes and FF Zeni

Each year, the Annual Firefighters’ Memorial Service honors firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department who bravely gave their lives in the line of duty. On Saturday, May 20, 2017, Fire Fighter Specialist Hector Magallanes and Fire Fighter Gino “Rick” Zeni will be remembered and honored for their service and dedication to the Department.

Magallanes graduated from the Los Angeles County Fire Academy in 1986 and served at Fire Station 193 in Battalion 21. He was a respected and dedicated member of the Department who faithfully served for 29 years. Magallanes passed away Sept. 18, 2015 after a short-term illness. He was 55.

Zeni began his career with the Department in 2003 and served at Fire Station 125 in Battalion 5. He was a lifelong public servant who also served as a lifeguard with Ventura County, a volunteer firefighter with the Santa Paula Fire Department and a firefighter with the Ventura County Federal Fire Department. Zeni passed away unexpectedly Oct. 16, 2015 at the age of 49.
