On Saturday, February 11, 2017, more than 40 firefighters from Los Angeles County, Arcadia and Monrovia Fire, along with Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Cole-Schaefer Ambulance personnel, participated in a mass casualty incident (MCI) drill at the Metro Rail maintenance facility in Monrovia.
On February 4, 2017, the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) and the Los Angeles County Bomberos Association took part in a live disaster rescue simulation training that was coordinated by the East Los Angeles Disaster Preparedness Coalition.
At the January 31, 2017 Board of Supervisors meeting, Fire Chief Daryl Osby lent his support and spoke in favor of a motion submitted by Supervisor Hilda Solis and Supervisor Janice Hahn. The motion, which was unanimously approved by the entire Board, instructs the Department of Public Health, in collaboration with other County Departments and entities, to conduct a child safety campaign throughout 2017.
