County LogoAt its regular meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 25, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors proclaimed Nov. 1 to be “Veterans in the Arts and Humanities Day” and Nov. 19 as “HomeWalk Day.”

Veterans in the Arts and Humanities Day aims to increase public awareness of the issues affecting veterans and to recognize the contributions that veterans make within the arts community. United States Veterans Artists Alliance is one organization that assists veterans with transitioning back into society through education, employment and counseling.

United Way of Greater Los Angeles will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its annual 5K Run/Walk Homewalk at Grand Park on Nov. 19. The Homewalk Run/Walk aims to increase awareness about the homeless crisis within Los Angeles County, build public support to end homelessness and raise funds to assist homeless people. All proceeds from the event go back into the community to end homelessness. The Board encourages employees and their families to participate in this event. For more information, visit
