The Walnut Valley Rotary Club honored Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captain Bryan Kidder as Firefighter of the Year on Tuesday, April 24, 2018. Every year, the club honors a firefighter and deputy providing exceptional service to the communities of Walnut and Diamond Bar.

LACoFD Division 8 Assistant Fire Chief Jim Robinson introduced Kidder, sharing that he was first hired by the City of Covina Fire Department in 1989, until 1998 when the Covina Fire Department transitioned to Los Angeles County for its services. For the past three years Kidder has been assigned to Fire Station 119 serving Diamond Bar, Walnut, and portions of Rowland Heights and Industry. During his 20 years with LACoFD, his specialized training has included urban search and rescue, hazardous materials, and peer fitness.

Captain Kidder thanked the Rotarians for the honor, expressed his appreciation for working in a great community, and extended an invitation to stop by the firehouse anytime.
