This year marks the 35th year of the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Family Support Group. A celebratory luncheon was held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum in Bellflower to commemorate the special occasion.

Fire Chief Daryl Osby attended the luncheon and acknowledged all of the group’s members for their strength, dedication, and contributions to providing social and emotional care for one another.

“It’s great to see how much this group has grown closer over the years. It just shows that good things last,” said retired LACoFD Fire Chief John Englund who served as fire chief when the group was initially formed and has supported it from day one.

Since 1984, the Family Support Group has welcomed over 60 members affected by tragedy and has created lasting friendships. Its members consist of those who have lost firefighting spouses, parents, partners or children in the line of duty.
