The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Fire Fighter Paramedic Recruit Class 154 formally graduated from its fire academy. The graduation was held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at the Cecil R. Gehr Fire Combat Center at Department headquarters.
Fire Chief Daryl Osby and the Executive Team were joined by the recruits’ family and friends to celebrate the 36 newly sworn-in firefighter paramedics.
Chief Osby gave an encouraging speech to the graduates as they begin a new chapter in their lives: “I would like to welcome this class as our first firefighter paramedic recruit class. You represent this badge and this Department each and everyday, whether on- or off-duty… Know that you will make a difference in someone’s life. You are the future of this organization.”
This is the first class of graduates that were candidates from the March exam bulletin, geared toward the recruitment of Fire Fighter Paramedic trainees. The recruits arrived with previous paramedic experience, allowing them to successfully graduate after eight weeks of training.
