The Regional Chamber of Commerce – San Gabriel Valley honored Fire Captain Brian Murphy of the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) at its sixth annual Salute to Heroes Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at the Diamond Bar Center.

At the event, elected officials and the business community pay tribute to members of public safety, the medical profession and military.  This year, Captain Murphy and eight other individuals were recognized for their efforts in keeping communities safe.  Captain Murphy was joined by his family, Fire Chief Daryl Osby and Division VIII Assistant Fire Chief Jim Robinson during the recognition.

Chief Osby and Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell both served as keynote speakers, welcoming guests and thanking honorees for their service to the eight communities the Regional Chamber serves.

Honored for his service, Captain Murphy began his 18-year career with LACoFD in May 2000 and has worked in several communities, including Commerce, Palmdale, South El Monte and Rosemead.

His current assignment is Fire Station 145 in Rowland Heights where the variety of calls keeps his work anything but ordinary.  “There is a great mix of things that come together in our community – from brush to urban interface, to commercial properties, to freeways and residential,” said Captain Murphy.  He takes pride in knowing that he and his crew can act as agents of good every day by providing help and support to people when they need it the most.
