In an effort to increase public safety community outreach and engagement, Fire Station 2 and the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department (PVEPD) are visiting neighborhoods for one-hour events called “Street Meets.” These are great opportunities for the residents to meet first responders.

The events have no agenda or presentation; they are just social hours to visit, ask questions, and get to know one another.  Through the partnership with Neighborhood Watch, the PVEPD simply picks a neighborhood, identifies a street location to meet, and notifies the neighbors.

At the events, Fire Department personnel set up tents with photo displays along the curb. Police officers and firefighters display their vehicles and equipment.

Participants bring coffee and cookies, as well as stickers for the kids.

Officials hope to conduct a few Street Meets each month to build relationships and network with residents.
