Los Angeles County firefighters and lifeguards across the county celebrated the opening of the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games last week.
In West Hollywood, firefighters were on hand to greet some Special Olympics athletes at the Torch Run Ceremony on July 22, while lifeguards hosted a dinner for athletes from Barbados and Macedonia on July 25.
The Fire Department and McCormick Ambulance sponsored the first aid booth at an Inglewood Host Town welcome for athletes from Jamaica on July 22.
In Hacienda Heights, firefighters from Fire Station 43 had the opportunity to celebrate the Special Olympics with 72 athletes representing Chinese Taipei on July 23.
Since last month, Fire Station 43 and Fire Station 118 in the City of Industry have played an active role in supporting and preparing for today’s visit. Both stations helped the Host Town organizers by participating in the filming of a promotional video announcing the upcoming games and arrival of athletes.
