The Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD), Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) and the Stentorians of Los Angeles joined together to donate four now-retired fire apparatus to Los Angeles’ Sister City of Lusaka, Zambia. The First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs. Esther Lungu, was there to receive the apparatus. The presentation took place at the Frank Hotchkin Memorial Training Center in Los Angeles on Friday, January 25, 2019.
LACoFD Fire Chief Daryl Osby and LAFD Fire Chief Ralph Terrazas also presented a plaque to the First Lady of Zambia to memorialize the special gift. The contribution was led by the Los Angeles-Lusaka Sister City Committee and Chairwoman Dr. Earnestine Thomas Robertson.
The apparatus will tremendously help Zambia’s capital city in assisting with fire operations. They are complete with a supply of water hose, nozzles, ladders and much more.
