Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department Forestry Division participated in the annual Los Angeles Environmental Education Fair (LAEEF) held Saturday, March 14, at the Los Angeles County Arboretum. LAEEF brings interested citizens together to engage, learn and be inspired by science and nature.
Foresters Larinda Pontes and Richard Anderson taught attendees about resource management, prevention and urban forestry using interpretive displays. They also distributed native tree seedlings.
In addition to recognizing and displaying environmental service projects from classrooms across the country, the event serves as a platform for educators, students, scouting groups and local families to network with local environmental resource agencies and other resource organizations. Attendees can learn about sustainable methods in gardening and recycling through hands on demonstrations and workshops, science scavenger hunts and nature games.
