LACoFD Central Region Hosts Fire Service Day WPPRO Administrator

On Saturday, June 1, 2019, the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Central Regional Operations Bureau held the final Fire Service Day of this year. The LACoFD and Hermosa Beach Police Department partnered to host the event at the Hermosa Beach Community Center. Residents met local first responders and learned about the services provided in their community.

This year, the Department’s fire personnel and Lifeguard Division set up booths to teach Hands-Only CPR and fire safety. Children and adults were excited to learn life-saving skills from firefighters and lifeguards.

The LACoFD Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) canines simulated a rescue of a victim trapped in a sealed bin. Within 60 seconds, the keen canine found an audience member who volunteered to hide in the bin.

Over 100 residents attended the community event where they enjoyed free lunch, raffle giveaways, live music, caricatures and much more.

Thank you to everyone who participated. The event was a success!
