President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin, Dan Schultz, visited the Barton Heliport in Pacoima on Monday, February 11, 2019. He presented the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Air Operations Section with the distinguished Humanitarian Award, as well as individual Rescue and Superior Maintenance Awards and Presidential Coins.
Dan Schultz and Regional Vice President Jeanette Eaton honored our first responders with the Humanitarian Award for their rescue efforts during the Woolsey Fire. LACoFD Fire Chief Daryl Osby accepted the award on behalf of Air Ops.
During the fire, LACoFD crews, consisting of pilots and mechanics, flew non-stop, 24-hour missions to continuously drop thousands of gallons of water. When flight crews from other agencies stopped at night, our crew continued air operations while maneuvering through limited visibility.
Congratulations to all of the Air Ops award recipients, and thank you to Sikorsky-Lockheed Martin for recognizing the Department!
