Last week, members of the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) USA-2 team attended a week-long International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) meeting in Santiago, Chile on October 8-12, 2019.

The meeting unites specialized teams from all over the world who assist with urban search and rescue (USAR) efforts during disasters.  This year, 50 countries attended the meeting which allows teams to highlight recent missions, discuss best practices, and review new training methods that improve the operational capabilities of international USAR response.

“It is always an honor to represent the Fire Department and the United States of America at this annual meeting,” said LACoFD Battalion Chief Robert Harris.  “I truly enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with teams from all over the world.  The meeting is an international platform to learn and discover new methods that make USAR operations successful.  I look forward to next year’s meeting in Warsaw, Poland.”
