Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Community Services Liaison (CSL) La Fonda Riggins participated in the Whittier Community Foundation’s annual “Dancing with the Whittier Stars” fundraiser on Wednesday, May 8, 2019.

Chief Deputy David Richardson Jr., Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Errett and Battalion Chief Richard Cobbs, along with other Department personnel, cheered her on as she danced the hustle to The Trammps’ hit song “Disco Inferno”.

This year, the Whittier Community Foundation aimed to raise funds for a bronze sculpture which would honor Los Angeles County firefighters.  The piece, “Strong Together”, will serve as a valuable and lasting reminder that all people, not just firefighters, are stronger when they stick together.

Each year, 12 influential community members from Whittier are invited to compete in the dance competition, similar to ABC’s show, “Dancing with the Stars”.  The contestants train for weeks to learn and perform choreographed dance routines from various genres, such as the waltz, swing, tango, samba and much more.
