New Captains & Fire Fighter Specialists Complete Academies

Fire Captain and Fire Fighter Specialist Academies were held to train newly promoted employees about their new positions.

Recently, the Fire Captain and Fire Fighter Specialist Academies took place to teach and train newly promoted employees on different aspects of their new positions as well as review expectations that they must adhere to and uphold.

Two rounds (Academy 12 and 13) of the ten-day Fire Captain Academy were held to accommodate  for 73 newly promoted captains.  Meanwhile, two rounds (Academy 12 and 13) of the five-day Fire Fighter Specialist Academy also took place to train 48 newly promoted employees.

During the Fire Captain Academy, employees received leadership training and classroom lectures on wildland incident operations as well as administrative simulations on personnel interactions.

Attendees of the Fire Fighter Specialist Academy received classroom lectures on the technical aspects of their job as well as trouble-shooting issues and finding solutions for different challenges.

Participants from both academies learned about the basic fundamental skills that are needed and they are expected to perform.  The academies were also an opportunity to work with mentors and ask questions in a controlled environment before going in the field.
