Los Angeles County First District Supervisor Hilda Solis demonstrates her compassion for families in need throughout East Los Angeles each Thanksgiving with “Operation Gobble Gobble” — a program in its third year that provides turkeys, monetary donations and other resources to local agencies that support communities throughout the First District.

Los Angeles County firefighters have partnered with Solis in support of the community distribution events that began on Wednesday, November, 15, 2017. At Obregon Park in East Los Angeles, Battalion Chief Steve Khodavandi greeted community members and firefighters from Fire Station 1 helped to distribute the donated food items to local non-profit organizations.

“Thanksgiving cannot be complete without us giving back to our communities. Whether it is through a basket full of food, a turkey, or a home-cooked meal, our residents deserve to spend a joyous time this holiday season,” said Supervisor Solis. “Operation Gobble Gobble is a true testament to the collaboration and partnership we have in the County.”

Over 800 turkeys have been distributed so far this year through 60+ community-based agencies working in the First District.
