Paula Park was honored as the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) “Nurse of the Year” during a presentation at the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors’ meeting on Tuesday, May 16. The presentation honored nurses from all County departments as part of “Nurse Recognition Week”.
Park is the Interim Education Program Director of the Emergency Medical Services Bureau. She develops education curriculum and trains Department nurses to teach firefighter paramedics.
“I enjoy the people that I work with, but what’s also important in teaching and training is the domino effect. I hope that paramedics can implement what they’ve learned from the nurses and apply it and change people’s lives,” said Park.
Park joined the Department in 2013. Prior to joining the LACoFD, she worked for the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center’s Emergency Department, training and educating new nurses. She also taught at El Camino College as a part-time instructor to registered nursing students.
“Park is dedicated and committed to the work that she does. She cares a lot about the people she works with and is friendly and welcoming,” said Margie Chidley, LACoFD Senior Nursing Instructor.
Congratulations to Paula Park for exemplifying the Department’s core values of caring and commitment and for being the Department’s “Nurse of the Year”.
