On Monday, January 29, 2018, representatives from Los Angeles County’s Quality and Productivity Commission (QPC) visited the headquarters of the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
A dozen QPC members met with Fire Chief Daryl Osby for a briefing on the Department’s quality and productivity challenges and opportunities, including recruitment, succession planning, mobile care, community outreach and the recent formation of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Foundation. Chief Osby also updated the commission on what the Department will be focused on for the next few years, as outlined in the 2017-2021 Strategic Plan, Act. Action. Accomplish.
During the briefing, the Fire Chief thanked the commission for providing funding for previous initiatives and programs that helped the Department further its daily mission, specifically highlighting a recent grant that allowed for the purchase of video equipment. The video equipment has been utilized to create training videos and materials for use by the Department and dozens of other fire agencies in the region and around the world.
The QPC’s visit concluded with a tour of Command and Control where commission members were also able to see the innovative, cost-saving 24-hour prescription drug dispensary known as Pyxis.
