Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger hosted the first annual Public Safety Appreciation Breakfast on Thursday, June 8, at The Athenaeum in Pasadena. Representatives from Los Angeles County Fire, including Fire Chief Daryl Osby, were in attendance, along with members of the Sheriff’s Department and local police departments.
Supervisor Barger expressed her appreciation for the dedicated service of all public safety departments. A representative from her office stated that they are working on policy and legislation that will protect first responders and provide funding to support their efforts.
Alisen Adame of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was the featured speaker at the breakfast. Adame is a Strategic and Technical Analyst specializing in counter-terrorism. She spoke to the public safety officials on new techniques in addressing and preparing for terrorism by lone actors. Her message underscored the need for all first responders to be equipped to help victims, and also to protect themselves in the event of attacks like the one that occurred in 2015 in San Bernardino.
