The Los Angeles County Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Division IV and VIII participated in Fourth District Supervisor Janice Hahn’s 3rd Annual Public Safety Appreciation Barbecue Luncheon at the Hacienda Heights Community Center on Thursday, October 17, 2019. The luncheon was held in appreciation of the public safety officers who serve the communities of unincorporated Whittier, Rowland Heights and Hacienda Heights.

LACoFD Fire Chief Daryl Osby joined Supervisor Hahn in welcoming approximately 200-300 guests, including personnel from the Department, Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, business leaders and community members.

Supervisor Hahn recognized team members from Fire Stations 43 and 118 in the City of Industry for their rapid response to a September 2018 incident when a car crashed into the Comunidad Misionera Cristiana (CMC) Church in Hacienda Heights. Three members of the congregation sustained injuries and a group of children witnessed the tragic incident. Firefighters from Fire Stations 43 and 118 partnered with CMC’s pastor, Raul Vida, to host a holiday event to spread holiday cheer and safety education to members of the church as they recovered from the incident.

The Department appreciates Supervisor Hahn for hosting the luncheon each year, in honor of the County’s hard-working community heroes.
