Swimmer Pulled From Surf at Venice Beach

Los Angeles County lifeguards, the U.S. Coast Guard and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to a possible drowning near the Avenue 19 Tower in Venice Beach just after 6 p.m. Thursday. Lifeguards pulled the 28-year-old man from the water and immediately began CPR.

The Los Angeles City Fire Department transported the patient to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The rescue was a joint effort by L.A. County lifeguards, Coast Guard, LASD and LAFD.
