A delegation from Taiwan’s Tainan City Government Fire Bureau (TCGFB) met with Los Angeles County Fire Chief Daryl Osby, Chief Deputy David R. Richardson Jr., and Battalion Chief Robert Harris on Tuesday, October 16, at Department headquarters. The meeting marks one year since the Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) hosted firefighters from TCGFB for a week of specialized training aimed at helping counter the rising number of line of duty deaths over the past decade in Taiwan.
“We are fortunate that we had learned the Fire Ground Survival (FGS) and Rapid Intervention Crew (RIC) training from LACoFD last year, so that we have enough knowledge and resources to share with the firefighters in Taiwan. There is one thing that you must to know, we already held the FGS training courses to all of the Tainan firefighters in the first half of this year. In addition, RIC training courses will be held next month. The training is benefiting the Tainan firefighters,” said Steve Tsai, TCGFB Training Section Chief.
