On the evening of Thursday, August 23, 2018, Los Angeles County Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Station 40 in Pico Rivera responded to a 911 call for an elderly man suffering a massive heart attack.  Family members and a neighbor performed CPR until the crew arrived.

They helped him regain a pulse and transported him to Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital in Whittier for further treatment.  The man, who is now recovering well after bypass surgery, is the father of Susan Garcia, an Executive Secretary at the County’s Internal Services Department.

“I cannot thank Station No. 40 (City of Pico Rivera) enough for what they have done for my dad,” wrote Garcia in an email to LACoFD.

She continued,”Fire Captain Christopher Guerra was very informative, compassionate and professional as well as the team.  This may be an everyday job for them, but this made a major difference in my family’s life and we get more time with my dad.  We are so blessed and forever grateful.”

Thank you, Susan, for recognizing the extraordinary team at Fire Station 40.
