It’s shaping up to be a beautiful and busy weekend at the beach.
Temperatures at the beach are expected to be in the 90s Friday/Saturday & upper 80s on Sunday. A pulse of SSW swell energy is heading our way bringing 3-4ft+ surf to our LA County beaches. With these conditions the Los Angeles County Fire Department Lifeguard Division would like to extend a few tips to keep you safe this weekend.
- Swim, Body Board, and Surf near an open lifeguard tower
- Check in with the lifeguard for ocean conditions and hazards.
- Practice good judgment; swim and surf within your abilities.
- Stay off rocks.
The Los Angeles/Oxnard National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazard Statement starting late Friday night through Sunday afternoon. The Los Angeles County Lifeguards urge the public to use caution and always check-in with the lifeguard. Strong Rip Currents and Lateral Currents are expected with the potential for large sneaker waves. Learn more about Rip Currents and how to escape one BEFORE you get to the beach.
- Stay Hydrated
- Apply/Reapply Sunscreen
- Wear Loose Sun-Protective Clothing
- Avoid the Mid-Day Sun
