Explorers Complete CPR Training 1024 768 Ron Fisher

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) congratulates members of the Explorer Program for successfully completing the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training held on February 17, 2024, and February 24, 2024, at the LACoFD headquarters.

A total of 86 Explorers earned a CPR certification which stands as a remarkable milestone in their journey towards a career in the fire service. This certification along with the comprehensive training curriculum that Explorers experience supports them in learning about today’s fire and emergency medical services (EMS), emphasizing community service and civic involvement through positive mentoring, training, education, and career development.

Through a very informative four-hour course, Explorers were trained by a cadre of highly experienced LACoFD EMS professionals who shared their expertise and real-world insights with the participants.

During the training sessions, Explorers actively engaged in the CPR curriculum which included distinguishing the difference between heart attacks and cardiac arrests, administering chest compressions, assessing responsiveness, and utilizing life-saving equipment like the automatic external defibrillator (AED).

The LACoFD extends its heartfelt appreciation to the exemplary cadre of EMS nurse educators for their exceptional leadership and dedication, and to the Explorers for committing their time to learning and arming themselves with essential life-saving skills and knowledge that will enable them to be effective in their communities.
