Bellflower BRAVO Awards 1024 683 Isidro Armenta

The City of Bellflower honored five County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) firefighters at the 30th annual BRAVO Awards ceremony on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Held at the Los Angeles County Fire Museum and The Mayne Events Center in the City of Bellflower, this annual ceremony recognizes first responders and Good Samaritans for acts of valor and outstanding service.

Members of the Bellflower City Council honored LACoFD Fire Captain Kevin Clerisse, Fire Fighter Specialist Brandon Rooney, and Fire Fighters Derek Norman, Ras Sanders, and Anthony Wilborn for a life-saving incident that occurred in 2025.

At 3:25 p.m. on July 7, 2025, Fire Station 23 and 98 firefighters were dispatched to a residential structure fire. First responders secured a water source, quickly knocked down the kitchen fire, and conducted search and rescue operations. One patient was located, treated and assessed on scene, and transported to a local area hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

The fire was determined to have been caused by a stove burner that was unintentionally left on.

The LACoFD appreciates the City of Bellflower’s recognition and congratulates all honorees for their remarkable and dedicated service.
