In honor of fallen County of Los Angeles Fire Captains Ken Renz and Ed Dahlen’s legacy, the Fire Velo Cycling Club rode over 500-miles from San Francisco to Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles.

As the eleven cyclists traveled from the northern to southern California, they stopped to pay tribute to the active and retired firefighters who have passed away from cancer.

This year, Captains Renz and Dahlen were honored with official Fire Velo Club jerseys which were presented to their families at Fire Station 70 in Malibu. Captains Renz and Dahlen served the communities of Los Angeles County with great distinction and care. Their legacies live on through the LACoFD family, and most importantly their loved ones.

This annual Cancer Awareness Bicycle Ride provides cancer awareness, wellness recognition, and support as well as raise money for cancer prevention and other cancer foundations.

Each year, the Fire Velo Cycling Club, made up of active and retired firefighters undertakes this weeklong ride to raise awareness and have so far donated over $500,000 to help combat cancer in the fire service.
