County of Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone participated in a joint news conference with ABC7, the Los Angeles City Fire Chief Kristen Crowley, along with representatives from Kidde and My Safe LA, on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, for the Operation Save-A-Life campaign.

Operation Save-A-Life is a national campaign that provides life-saving smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to families in need.  We are thankful to Kidde for their generous donation of life-saving smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to both the County of Los Angeles and Los Angeles City Fire Departments.

Operation Save a Life builds upon Fire Prevention Month which we celebrate annually in October each year.

In 2022, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) responded to over 2,700 structure fires.  Across the U.S., four out of five fire-related deaths occur at homes each year; that’s because homes are where people are at greatest risk of fire.

Over the past 19 years of Operation Save-A-Life, Kidde has donated more than 1.5 million smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to fire departments all over the country and provided other fire safety resources and products.  The LACoFD is thankful to Kidde for their generous donation of smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors which will be distributed to residents.
