In this edition of Size-Up, the County of Los Angeles Fire Department is spotlighting the recent promotion of Shawna Lewis.
Ms. Lewis officially began her role as the Community, Outreach, Recruitment, Diversity, and Inclusion’s (CORDI) Section Manager on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
With over 17 years of County service, Ms. Lewis brings a wealth of experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as community engagement, workplace and wellness program management, and strategic leadership.
“I am excited to be a part of such a dynamic team. My education and experience shaped me into an accountable administrative professional and culture architect committed to fostering an inclusive environment where employees feel safe, valued, and appreciated,” said Ms. Lewis. “These skills, paired with a proactive and analytical approach, will aid in envisioning and priority setting to effectively implement change in the organization… I believe we can transform the County of Los Angeles Fire Department, into a national model of equity through education, empowerment, and action.”
Ms. Lewis has earned a long list of degrees and certificates, including, but not limited to a Human Services Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Dominguez Hills; Public Administration Master’s Degree with an emphasis in Public Sector Management and Leadership from California State University, Northridge; and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for Human Resources Certificate from Cornell University.
