This year’s honorees included two County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Captains Brandon Comfort and Steve Vargas, who recently promoted from firefighter specialist, for providing outstanding service to the City of Pomona.

LACoFD Division VIII Acting Assistant Fire Chief Dustin Robertson acknowledged both honorees for their professionalism, thanking both for their dedicated service to Pomona residents and Pomona’s business community.

The Honorees:

• Captain Comfort is currently assigned to Fire Station 182 and served the City of Pomona as a paramedic, and recently returned to Pomona at the rank of Fire Captain. As a 14-year member of the Department, he continues to embody the the LACoFD’s core values.

• Prior to a recent promotion to Fire Captain, Fire Fighter Specialist Steve Vargas was assigned to the East Region Fire Prevention Office located in Diamond Bar where he was responsible for fire prevention services in North Pomona for two years. He has served the LACoFD with great honor and distinction for 24 years. Vargas was unable to attend the recognition due to the Captains Academy.  His former Prevention Captain Allan Anolin attended and accepted on his behalf.
