On Thursday, October 12, 2023, County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) Fire Fighter Specialist Joshua Costello was honored as the 31st Perpetual Fire Prevention Award of Excellence recipient. This recognition also coincided with the County’s declaration of October as Fire Prevention Month.
Team members of the LACoFD Prevention Division joined County of Los Angeles Deputy Fire Chief Nick Duvally, Assistant Fire Chief Albert Yanagisawa, and Battalion Chief Khoi Dao in presenting Fire Fighter Specialist Costello with the Perpetual Award of Excellence acrylic trophy and Board scroll.
Fire Fighter Specialist Costello has worked diligently in the Fire Prevention Division, contributing to the development and analysis of Fire Prevention Codes and Ordinances, along with his participation in numerous State and national code-creating committees, including his recent appointment to the Emerging Technology Committee for Energy Storage Systems (lithium-ion batteries).
Fire Fighter Specialist Costello is also to be commended for his 17 years of loyal and dedicated service to County residents and communities, and for continually passing along his knowledge and expertise to explorers and probationary firefighters.
