The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Alumni Affairs proudly recognize exceptional alumni who serve in civic positions and make a difference in people’s lives. These recognized leaders and volunteers engage with community organizations, find solutions to today’s civic issues, and improve the quality of life for community members.

On Monday, November 13, 2023, Dr. Clayton Kazan, County of Los Angeles Fire Department’s (LACoFD) Training and Emergency Medical Services Bureau Medical Director, was recognized with a Bruin Excellence in Civic Engagement Award by fellow UCLA Alumni during a formal reception at UCLA.

As the full-time LACoFDmedical director, Dr. Kazan oversees medical care provided by the Department’s skilled cadre of dispatchers, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and lifeguards. In this role, Dr. Kazan is responsible for directing emergency medical services (EMS) care of more than four million County of Los Angeles residents and 1,000 medical calls each day.
