On Thursday, October 10, 2019, at around 9 p.m., the Saddleridge Fire broke out in the communities of Sylmar, Granada Hills and Porter Ranch.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department worked in unified command with the Los Angeles City Fire Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department and the US Forest Service to contain the fire.

As of Thursday, October 24, the fire has burned 8,799 acres and is 97% contained. There was one fatality, eight non-fatal injuries, 19 structures burned and 88 damaged structures.
